Most pitched-roof solar installs need edge-protected scaffolding — here's what to expect.

When it's needed

For most domestic pitched-roof PV installations, an edge-protected access scaffold is required by the installer's method statement.

Commercial installs on flat or fragile roofs often need additional crawl boards, temporary handrail systems or birdcages around the working area.
