How Much Does Scaffolding Cost in Essex?

Published 15 January 2025 · Updated 19 July 2026

Scaffolding pricing depends on more than height and width. Here's a plain-English guide to what actually drives the cost of a scaffold in Essex.

What drives the price of a scaffold

Every scaffold quote is based on the number of lifts, the run length, the ground and access conditions, and how long the scaffold is on hire. Complex builds — bridging, cantilevers, temporary roofs — add cost because they need more design and more kit.

Pavement or highway licences add a fixed fee from the local council. Any survey requiring specialist ties or heavy loadings will also affect the price.

Domestic vs commercial pricing

Domestic jobs (single homes, extensions, chimney work) are usually priced as a single fixed quote. Commercial jobs are more often priced as an erect + weekly hire + strike breakdown because programmes are longer and change.

Why we don't quote over the phone

Every site is different. Quoting sight-unseen leads to disappointment on both sides. We survey every job and issue a written fixed price before any work is booked.

FAQs

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Site surveys and written quotes are always free.

Is scaffolding cheaper if I supply my own licence?

Occasionally — if you already hold a valid pavement licence for the dates we need. We'll handle it either way.
